presented by Bronwyn Rennex

On today’s program

I invited American artist Jaime Warren into the studio to speak about her practice and her work in Warm Bodies currently showing at Cement Fondu.

Jaimie Warren is an award-winning  artist, performer and educator. She’s also Co-Director/Creator of the community arts project and fake public access tv show “Whoop Dee Doo”.

Warren has taught extensive workshop series’ with youth, adults and seniors and was invited to Australia to work on a week-long social project collaborating with KARI indigenous youth group to create work for the Warm Bodies exhibition.

The work they created was inspired by versions of Picasso’s Weeping Woman. In the Warm Bodies version, visitors entered a dark room, ushered in by creepy human curtains….I don’t want to tell you more. You’ll have to see the video version of the performance at the gallery. You’ll also be able to see more of Warren’s work in the mezzanine. There’s a selection of her Horror Movie Gifs   screening there as well. Her artworks are funny, smart and socially engaged. I hope you take the time to check them out.
