Recorder virtuoso, Genevieve Lacey and Salon de Refusés preview

Genevieve Lacey (recorder) and Marshall McGuire (harp) – photo by Josh Robenstone

Genevieve Lacey is Australia’s pre-eminent recorder virtuoso. She chats to Paul about her upcoming online concert with harpist, Marshall McGuire, entitled Bower.

The concert is inspired by the bower bird, and strives to create sanctuaries in these unusual times. Originally planned as a recording project (Bower CD recently released on ABC Classics), it has been transformed into an immersive digital concert experience. Featuring storytelling by Ruth Little, sound by Jim Atkins, and lighting by Niklas Pajanti, you can enjoy this concert on July 24 at 7pm AEST. More info and tickets here.

Sally Robinson – Veena Sahajwalla

Also, Anthony previews the Salon de Refusés with Jane Watters, Gallery Director of the S.H. Ervin Galleries. The Archibald is considered by some to be more about the controversy, while the Salon de Refusés is all about the art.

From works not chosen for the Archibald, the S.H. Ervin Gallery chooses the best from the Archibald (portrait) and Wynne (landscape) prizes. Jane talks about the selection process and the history behind it.

Caroline Zilinsky – The Wedgwood Heart (Jonathon Dalton, artist)

Although the exhibition is closed at the moment because of you know what, it is planned to run until 15 August.
