Sara Richter at Eastside FM
Hello Eastsiders,
My name is Sara, I am 18 years old and I have just graduated from high school in Germany. After graduating, I have decided to take a gap year to experience the world before going to university. I am going to be here for 4 months and I can’t wait to experience life at Eastside Radio.
On my last evening in Germany, I randomly met an Australian couple at a restaurant in Munich who told me “Sydney is the place to be”. After spending two weeks here I can say they were absolutely right! The fantastic weather, the beautiful beaches and especially the people I have met so far really made Sydney become my home away from home.
But why Eastside Radio? In Münster, my hometown in Germany, I worked for our local newspaper and a radio station while at school which I really enjoyed. What fascinates me most about radio is that you get access to information and music just through listening. You don’t need to see any pictures or read complex texts, you just listen (how nice is that?!)
Listening, especially to music and podcasts, has always played a big role in my life. I have not only played the oboe for 7 years, but I also can’t imagine a day without listening to all different kinds of music, no matter if it’s on a long bus ride, a long run or just in my room. And when I say I listen to all different kinds of music, I mean it! There are days I listen to a sad love song after having danced to the latest charts, before listening to chill jazz music. But there is one German band (they actually come from a city 40 minutes away from where I live) I can listen to anytime and everywhere: Giant Rooks. This is one of my all-time favourite songs:
But I also like to discover songs and genres that provide a good mood.
In my free time, I also love being outside in nature, doing sports like running or swimming, catching moments with my friends on camera or just reading a good book.
Now that I have introduced myself to you I can’t wait to get to know Eastside Radio, its shows and all its contributors!
