THANK YOU
by Len
It’s just thirty nine productive years
Since Eastside Radio,
Brought fine music to your ears
From its quaint Paddo Studio.
Just a twiddle of the digit
On the Sydney FM dial,
Brings the signal that we transmit,
Why not give this mob trial?
On the air, here and there
With our savvy savoir-faire
Don’t you know it?
Why not show it?
If you have some bucks to spare!
Every day, Monday to Friday
In the morning we present,
Jazz an’ jammin’ for an entrée
To an artistic event.
Local musos make their intros
Rather anxious to begin,
With assorted views and combos
And the records start to spin.
Well this bunch of cool musicians
Give up of their precious time,
With their programs and submissions
From terrific to sublime.
Maybe Miles, the Duke, Count Basie
On a recent new release,
Like Bix Beidebecke, Jess Stacy
Or some local masterpiece,
I almost forgot to mention
We have cool enlightened folk,
With the very best intention
To inform you and provoke.
Be it books, the arts, theatre
Interviews of sundry kinds,
Each an erudite trendsetter
Who will win your hearts and minds.
If you hear some groovy singing
Or the sounds of dancing feet,
It’s the populace out swinging
Down the lanes of Oxford Street.
Guys, we’re not over ambitious
But we dare say you should know,
You subscribers and well-wishers
Keep our station on the go.
As I finish this commercial
Let me emphasise my point,
Which is quite un-controversial
We’re a vibrant swinging joint.
So it’s eighty-nine point seven,
On the Sydney FM dial,
For the music played in Heaven
Why not linger for a while.
On the air here and there
With your help we shall declare
You’re acoustic,
Face the music.
We’re your jazz concessionaire.
