James Morrison live at Sydney’s Great Synagogue

JAMES MORRISON QUARTET TO PERFORM FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME AT THE GREAT SYNAGOGUE FOR TWO NIGHTS ONLY

Australia’s beloved ‘Genius of Jazz’, multi-award-winning musician James Morrison has performed for royalty and presidents and at all the major jazz festivals and famous jazz clubs around the world. But in an Australian-first, he and his quartet will perform live at Sydney’s iconic Great Synagogue for two nights only, on September 12 and 13, 2023.

With a breathtaking program including Swinging jazz standards by Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Bill Evans as well as some sultry Latin tunes and surprises, the concerts will be held at a stunning heritage-listed building nestled in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, usually closed to the public.

Live at the Great offers the rare opportunity to visit The Great Synagogue – with its whimsical architecture, velvety acoustics, and beautiful lighting – while enjoying concerts by world-class musicians.

Behind the series is renowned Sydney-based conductor and pianist Vladimir Fanshil and his wife, opera singer Eleanor Lyons, who have hosted some of Australia’s biggest artists in one of Sydney’s most hidden venues.

James Morrison:

“I’m very excited to bring my quartet for the very first time to the beautiful and normally closed-to-the-public Great Synagogue for an intimate acoustic concert of swinging jazz standards, sublime ballads, and haunting Latin numbers with a few surprises thrown in.”

Artistic Director Vladimir Fanshil:

“I’m absolutely thrilled to host one of the world’s living treasures, James Morrison, in the glorious architecture of the Great Synagogue, where you can hear every note unfiltered and acoustic. The concerts are proving to be popular, so I encourage you to book your ticket as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”
