My journey with music and interning with Eastside Radio
Hi I’m Liam Lavoe! This is what has inspired me to peruse music and what fostered my interest in radio.
My Journey with music
Ever since I was a child I was surrounded by music, My father was in a band and my mother was a traditional Argentine dancer. Even now as I come home I hear music from all over the world. Argentina, Australia, and on the off occasion music from Italy. I discovered my passion for music in Year 5 when I picked up an old classical guitar we had lying around the house, I had no clue how to play it so I went to my friend who did and he taught me everyone’s first riff, Smoke on the water.
Little did I know this hobby I had would turn into a full blown addiction, Music became part of my being, Searching for new music to listen to and learn. When I would go run errands with my dad he would put on his favorite radio station and somehow know every word to (most) of the songs that would come up.
Now I play in 2 different bands, I’m the front man of my band The Avenue and I play guitar and lead vocals for my youth group.
I try to use the music I make to bring change, To spread some good to the world and bring people together. That’s the thing I love about music it brings people together from every part of the world, and that’s something I hope I can do with my music.
What brought me to Eastside radio
My dad and I’s car rides inspired me and gave me an interest in radio, And I was lucky enough to secure my work experience with Eastside Radio. I saw on there website that they were a Jazz and blues radio station and that imminently drew my eye to it, When I got to Eastside Radio I realized that the people here truly love the music that they put on the air, It’s amazing to see people so passionate about music and that there is still a radio station playing my favorite kinds of music. While I am here at Eastside Radio I hope to absorb as much feed back as possible so I can grow in my own radio journey.
Here are some photos of the youth group I play in and my own band The Avenue
Thank you for taking time to read about me! I hope that this gave you some insight about my love of music and what made me choose to pursue a career in radio.
