About me
Hi! My name is Max Zhao and I am a Year 10 student from Girraween High School, and I’m excited to be doing my work experience here at Eastside Radio this week, starting today! I have loved listening to and playing music ever since I first pressed down on a piano key, and the reason why I love it so so much, is because of its ability to make millions of people move and groove in ways they would NEVER do outside of the dance floor, which is why I’ve decided to come here to an amazing radio station to do my work experience.
I’ve been playing classical piano for 11 years, and since then I’ve also picked up the ukulele and the glockenspiel. I also have perfect pitch. I obviously love classical music, but I also enjoy jazz, pop, J-pop, K-pop, hip-hop and R&B.
My Favourite Songs
My favourite songs will be wildly different depending on what year you ask me. If you asked me 2 years ago it would have definitely been something J-pop. At the time my favourite artist was a Japanese singer named Ado.
And here’s my favourite song from her: Usseewa (うっせぇわ). The song talks about her dissatisfaction with the toxic work culture and society in Japan.
Last year, I was obsessed with Laufey. Her name is pronouced lay-vay.
And my favourite Laufey song is From the Start. It’s a bit of a mix of jazz and pop.
Finally, this year I started playing a lot of Chopin Waltzes, and my favourite one was his Waltz in A-flat major, op. 42. Here’s a picture of me playing it at a school concert.
I’m excited to be undertaking work experience at Eastside Radio, and I am sure that I will learn a lot about radio and the media industry, and most importantly, expand and enhance my taste in music.
