Let’s Get Lost: A Psychogeographical Playlist

An image of an inner city alley, made colourful by graffiti and bright sunlight

What impact does your physical environment have on you? How does it affect your mood? The way you behave? Are your movements through the city just a way of getting from A to B – or is there more to your relationship with your surroundings?

Situationist philosopher Guy Debord came up with the idea of ‘psychogeography’ as a way of examining how we relate to our open spaces, particularly urban spaces. He also came up with the idea of le dérive – the drift – as a way of re-engaging with urban landscapes to free ourselves from the predictablilty and and monotony of life as consumers.

The Hairpin Turn offers a selection of great tunes to accompany you as you wander the streets with with purpose – but without a destination.
