This week’s album of the week is Ama Lou’s Ama, who? The fresh-faced North London singer has made big waves since she came onto the scene with her debut EP DDD in 2018, and this release is no different. With a soul voice reminiscent of Jorja Smith and Erykah Badu, the album mixes heavy R’n’B beats with scarce synthesisers without distracting from the huge sound of her voice. At just 20 years old, she has released a breakup album that proves more mature than you would expect from someone with only two decades of heartbreak under her belt. The Ama, who? EP is a triumphant return by Ama Lou to the new wave of soul she mastered with her previous releases.
