outmysystem – Summer Pearl
Emerging neo-soul talent Summer Pearl’s album outmysytem is one that resonates with her very personally. Some of the songs included were started eight years ago, whereas some of them were only written recently. She says that ‘These are songs that I needed to get out of my system in order for me to move on. To be able to move on and get over that relationship, romantic or platonic; to move on but not forget the loss of friends and family.‘ As a result, she demonstrates an extremely lyrically beautiful album, that is primarily R&B but also occupies a vivid jazz aspect. Par3 is a classic soul jazz organ trio that takes stylistic cues from artists of the 60s/70s like who synthesised Jazz, Soul, R&B, Blues, Gospel, Latin and Pop into an exciting new style. The trio has created a distinct, Australian-Jazz Funk sound which is joyous, soulful, and growing.
