This week’s album of the week is The Modern Congress’ Until Tomorrow. It has been eight years since we have heard from Sydney’s electro-jazz collective The Modern Congress, fronted by jazz guitarist Tim Rollinson. Tim is no stranger to experimental jazz composition, with previous experience fronting the acid jazz collective Directions in Groove (DIG) and has mellowed it out for this latest release. The album has some amazing guest vocals, including Lauren Dawes, Laura Brooker and Tayanita Robertson. There are meandering synths on Esperanto and calypso-funk on Water Has Memory, leaving room for even the biggest jazz skeptic to find a track to love.
Listen to the show here, and tune in Thursdays 1.30-2pm to hear Album of the Week with Bec Cushway.
