Eye to Eye – David Versace
On his second studio album, Eye to Eye, David Versace seeks to create music that touches the heart and speaks to the soul. The album expands on the textures of its predecessor, Okra, grounded in jazz and Latin influences weaved in between a lush ambient soundscape. ‘With Time’, the album’s lead single, features a groove-oriented rhythm section that acts as a backdrop for Versace’s immersive melodic brilliance. The song, to Versace, is a “metaphor for life’s tension and release”, an idea echoes throughout the entirety of the album.
Me Chama De Gato Que Eu Sou Sua – Ana Frango Eléctrico
Ana Frango Eléctrico began writing Me Chama De Gato Que Eu Sou Sua in 2021, with the intention of showing, in means of sound, understanding and feelings about queer love, subjectively exposing myself. It traverses a diverse range of genres and sounds, from disco and funk to retro city pop. Despite this, the album remains cohesive throughout, gliding along a friction-less path of compelling grooves and delightful melodies. ‘Coisa Maluca’, a standout track, immerses us with jangling guitar chimes and silky harmonies that hover over a hypnotic drum machine groove.
