Small Medium Large – SML
Released June 28, 2024

SML—Anna Butterss, Jeremiah Chiu, Josh Johnson, Booker Stardrum and Gregory Uhlmann—turn improvisation into a playful experiment on Small Medium Large. Recorded live over two nights at LA’s now-closed ETA, the quintet chop, loop and rearrange their performances into hypnotic, polyrhythmic grooves.
The results nod to Herbie Hancock, Fela Kuti and Holgar Czukay while keeping a distinctly human sway. Each track moves between electronic textures, psychedelic flourishes and spontaneous melody, as if the band is daring you to dance along—or at least nod your head in awe.
SML balance chaos and cohesion so well that even the most adventurous listener will be delightedly lost in the sound.
A Lion Is A Lion – Cool Out Sun
Released October 4, 2024

Melbourne’s Cool Out Sun—Lamine Sonko, Nui Moon, Neda Rahmani, Kwame Tosuma, Immy Owusu, Bilalli, Vida Sunshyne and Sampa The Great—return with their second LP A Lion Is A Lion, a vibrant blend of hip hop, Afrosoul, and roots music. Built on MPC beats and enriched with live instrumentation and vocals, the album fuses West African language and culture with modern sonics that leap out of the speakers. The songs tackle social issues and storytelling, hiding cultural and historical messaging inside heavy grooves and catchy hooks.
Their explosive live shows are legendary, with spins across Australia, the US, EU, and UK radio. The record is a celebration of community and family, honoring ancestors, collaborators and audiences who have supported their journey. Cool Out Sun’s message is simple yet powerful: Never shrink yourself for anyone. Be unapologetically you.
