Join me, Jane Raffan on Arts Monday 4 April for a program that looks at tales from Greek and Roman mythology in an intriguing new exhibition, “Alpha & Omega: Tales of Transformation“.
My guest interviews today are with Michael Turner, Snr Curator at Sydney University’s Nicholson Museum, whose collections of antiquities are the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and contain many treasures.
In this fascinating exhibition, Michael employs his love of storytelling using the 26 letters of the Greek alphabet to tackle tales of transformation from Greek and Roman mythology, and, in the process, teases out some contemporary links.
Each letter is supported by one or more wonderful works from the university’s collections: highlights from the Nicholson alongside art, artifacts and specimens from the University Art Collection and the Macleay Museum.
And the music? The playlist showcases the work of master musical storytellers, of course!
As always, I look forward to your company.
