ARE YOU IN THE MOOD FOR A LATIN NIGHT OF FILM, MUSIC & FOOD? Date night with Ruben Blades on Fri 5 April | 6:15pm

The Sydney Latin American Film Festival brings together an unmissable night of film, music and
food, celebrating the best in Latin American culture all under one roof with the Ruben Blades
Encore + Musica En Vivo!Latin American icon Ruben Blades burst onto the New York City salsa scene in the 1970s with his socially charged lyrics and explosive rhythms. His hits Pedro Navaja and Plastico are loved by generations of Latin Americans worldwide, and we have seen him in the spotlight as a Grammy winner, actor, lawyer and Panama Presidential Candidate.

Ruben Blades Is Not My Name/ Yo No Me Llamo Ruben Blades (Panama), is an intimate
documentary about the living Salsa legend which reveals a soft-spoken rebel struggling to come
to terms with his legacy. After the screening, join us for a party headlined by local 8 piece Salsa
legends MALO MALO.

Legends of the local scene, the 8 piece Salsa Orchestra, MALO MALO will be lighting up the
dance floor after the screening. Inspired by the suave, urban Nuyorican and Cuban dance bands
of the 1970’s, they have developed a solid following in the salsa world, and their songs are
danced to in discos all around the world, and have made a particularly big impact in Cali,
Colombia the “salsa capital of the world.”

Bringing the flavours of Latin America will be Rosa Cienfuegos, who from 6:15pm will be serving
up a selection of her delicious food, inspired by the music, sights and sounds of Latin America.
