What shows, performances and people are coming up in 2017 and how best to sum up those of 2016?

Join me at 10:30am for a stimulating appraisal of theatre and performance in Sydney.

We welcome back Deborah Jones, writer ‘on dance, musical theatre, theatre and opera in Sydney … mostly’, for her annual survey of performance and performing arts issues last year and some recommendations for the year to come in the performing arts.

Deborah was arts editor of The Australian newspaper for 10 years and most recently edited the Review section of The Australian.

She is now a freelance writer and editor, specialising in dance, musical theatre, theatre and opera. She continues to review dance and musical theatre for The Australian, is a member of the Sydney Theatre Awards panel and reviews opera performances in Sydney for the London-based Opera magazine.

The latter half of the show will reprise part of an interview held last year with artist Penelope Metcalf, one of the 2016 Woollahra artists in residence.

Penelope’s work, focussing on the iconic Art Deco and inter-war flats of the Eastern Suburbs will be shown in an exhibition, Red Centre, at the National Trust Centre on Observatory Hill opening on 16th February.
