Presented by Bronwyn Rennex
On Arts Wednesday this week I speak to Paul Mason who has had a long career in music and broadcasting including being former head of music at the Australia Council. We discuss how artists and musicians have been impacted by the recent pandemic and what government and private initiatives have been introduced to keep the sector alive, including the recent announcement of the Great Southern Nights initiative. Paul also talks about the consultancy work he has been doing since leaving the Australia Council, working with artists and musicians to build sustainable careers.
Given Paul’s huge love and knowledge of music I asked him to choose some tunes for the show. He chose some crackers:
The Vampires – Freedom Song
Jonathan Zwartz – Shimmer
and Fiona Apple – Fetch the bolt cutters.
Thanks for listening.
