At 10:40 am, we’ll hear Part 3 of Developing Sydney with Laila Ellmoos. In this episode, Laila talks some more about council’s powers of demolition of buildings and the rise of the Royal Australian Historical Society, concerned with remembering what the city was losing. You can check out the exhibition online at: https://www.sydneycustomshouse.com.au/visit/exhibitions-events

The exhibition and the series examines Sydney 1900 – 1920 through the archives of photographs in council’s collection. It also marks a new and easier way for us to access the archives. This is the link: https://archives.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au

The first voyage of James Cook was a combined Royal Navy and Royal Society expedition to the south Pacific Ocean aboard HMS Endeavour, from 1768 to 1771. One of the aims of this first expedition was to observe the 1769 Transit of Venus across the Sun on 3–4 of June that year. This event was the catalyst for Under the Stars, a new exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Cara Pinchbeck was one of the two curators and she joins us at 11:00am to tell us more.

This week is Radiothon, this year entitled Side By Side. It’s our one big fund raiser for the year and our opportunity to say thank you for your support.
