This week sees Ed Lippmann making a welcome return to Arts Wednesday in a new series of Sydney By Design for 2020 and this series focuses on the events of the last year. And what a year it’s been! The first episode looks at building codes, following the debacle of Opal Tower and other shoddily built buildings, leaving owners without recourse.
My special guest at 11:00 am is Nina Earl, curator of Design For Life at the Powerhouse. This exhibition looks at the development of medical technology over the last century and what makes it special, is the old technology displayed next to the new. Think of the original hypodermic needles, which surely would have made an elephant weep at the thought of being injected, compared to the modern disposable syringe.
Music is what I like. Even with the best of intentions, I couldn’t make a playlist out of medical technology!
Do join me.
