Hi Eastside,
We have a book launch! It is on Sunday 12th November 11 a.m at the South Maroubra Surf Club.
This is a really big deal in the community as Fiona is a female lifeguard who has risen beyond tractional glass ceilings in the area of surf rescue and a very popular local figure. The launch of this book come sat a perfect time in terms of press release as it is the start of the beach season and also the month of White Ribbon Day. Fiona represents both lifesaving and beach safety as well as positive strong female role model of resilience. I think it is crucial that the local community see this talked about in their paper and know that they are welcome to come along to celebrate with us at the launch!
So please come and celebrate the launch of Brave and Strong All Day Long; a story of resilience, surf rescue and a life long commitment to helping others. Please bring your friends! There will be storytelling, a chance to meet the heroine of the story and an opportunity to join the locals at the friendly surf club BBQ for a drink afterwards!

Fiona the Lifeguard Bio
Enjoying the stunning oceans and beaches is very much part of an Australian lifestyle. Having grown up near the ocean, Fiona now works as a lifeguard on Sydney’s Eastern beaches for Randwick Council. Fiona’s in-depth knowledge of the local coast and the surf has enabled her to keep people safe and to save lives during her years as a lifeguard cutting out a successful and highly regarded career in a traditionally male sector. The notoriously dangerous rips and shore dumps that occur seasonally require strength of mind and body and a selfless quick-thinking response when danger is at hand. Public safety and understanding of the surf are important considerations for all local government councils in charge of coastal areas and the rigour of training and standards of their lifeguards are testament to this.
