Eastside Radio is seeking two (2) Directors for the Board of Eastside Radio Co-operative to assist the station in the next stage of its development. Given the impact of COVID on the NFP sector and community organisations, Eastside are particularly interested in those with experience in fundraising and business change.
Eastside Radio is a not-for-profit, community radio station founded in 1983. The station features specialist music shows across jazz, hip-hop, soul, funk, blues, world, electronica, folk, and alt-country.
The station also serves the local community through the broadcasting of a number of local news shows, including Drive Monday-Friday, Arts Monday-Friday, and daily magazine format shows covering film, local council, consumer rights, science and the disability rights areas.
Eastside will appoint two non-Executive Directors for an initial two-year term with the option for a one-year extension. Appointments will occur as soon as the right candidates are found. Eastside is particularly keen to appoint Directors who can bring experience in fundraising/grant proposals, audience growth and business change.
Whilst meetings have been held virtually during COVID, the majority of meetings take place face to face on weekday evenings in Paddington.
The Board of Directors is responsible for governance, strategy and financial security whilst meeting the guidelines laid out by ACMA and the CBAA. The Board works in close partnership with the Managing Director to ensure that the strategic goals of the organisation are met.
The current board consists of 5 elected members, with three positions elected in every odd-numbered year and two positions elected in every even-numbered year.
We have a group of active and passionate volunteers who help us put out over 90 shows per week. We are available both on FM, DAB+ and via live-stream from our website and app.
The Board meets bi-monthly and Board members are expected to take on one area of expertise/focus to support our Managing Director in the strategic direction and operation of the station. The non-executive Directors are appointed to support the elected board members on short-term projects and fill skills gaps.
Current directors can be viewed here.
These are unpaid positions.
