The City of Sydney understands the devastating impact Covid-19 is having on our communities. They want to get extra funds to small businesses, artists, cultural organisations, social services, and community groups as soon as possible. So they’ve released an additional $7.25 million in funding!
We know that Sydney’s arts and cultural organisations and artists are facing unprecedented challenges as the impacts from the COVID-19 global pandemic are felt all over the world. In this uncertain time, it’s critical we work together to help our arts sector navigate all of the support available at a local, state and federal government level.
To help keep businesses, creatives and cultural organisations afloat, and our most vulnerable communities safe, The City of Sydney recently announced a support package worth $72.5 million. The package includes the initiatives below:
Cultural sector resilience grants
These grants will help sole traders and not-for-profit arts enterprises with less than 20 employees. Ideal for organisations that rely on income from events, classes, exhibitions, hiring workspace or other public programs.
Creative fellowships fund
These grants are for individuals and collectives to develop new projects during the restrictions related to Covid-19. Projects can be presented during or after the pandemic has passed.
Community services grants
These grants are to help provide food, digital assistance and social connection to vulnerable people. They’re open for not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises, or an individual or group auspiced by an organisation in our area.
Quick response grants
These grants are for small-scale programs. Funds can be used for a variety of projects – from presenting performances and classes online to helping businesses keep trading, and providing food and social connection for the city’s most vulnerable.
