This Thursday, Maisy Stapleton and Paula Towers speak to Peter Morton who is recording an ongoing series on the collections in our state’s cultural institutions – museums, galleries and libraries.
Today Peter is speaking to Richard Neville, Mitchell Librarian about the extraordinary holdings and the astonishing and diverse array of items in the State Library of NSW including the Macquarie Chest.
SHAC – The Southern Highlands Artisans Collective opened a year ago in Robertson, a village in the Southern Highlands of NSW.
SHAC filled a need both as studio space for local artists and a local gallery to showcase their work. The centre has also become a key space for creative workshops and a place to meet local artists and buy their work, attracting tourists and locals alike to this vibrant creative hub.
Maisy spoke to SHAC’s chairman Patsy Peacock and artists Shazz Collyer and Grant Parker to find out more about this cultural initiative and what to see there.
This is the first in an ongoing, if irregular, series on arts in the regions, including arts places, events and artists.
Finally, a local landmark. Paula has been looking at the history of the Paddington Town Hall, the home of Eastside Radio, which occupies basement studios in this grand nineteenth century building. We’ll discuss her discoveries in the last segment of the program.
