Connections

Arts Thursday 30th May 2019  is about connections – to the past, to other cultures.

Join me, Maisy Stapleton, to explore the Asian collections at the Powerhouse Museum and discover music devised for English Kings and for the Queen by her Masters of Music.

In the first half of the program I’m speaking to Min Jung Kim, Curator of Asian Art at the Powerhouse Museum, about Asian Reflections – Collectors and Collections. This exhibition reveals the diversity, beauty and skill found in the museum’s Asian decorative arts collection and raises questions about our relationship to the arts of ‘The East’.

Sydney Chamber Choir – Ria Andrioni is on the far left

Then, looking at history through music, we’ll be previewing A Royal Affair – a concert to be performed on Saturday 1 June in the Great Hall of Sydney University by the Sydney Chamber Choir. We meet with one of the multi-talented choristers – Ria Andriani – who has a special story to tell about her relationship to music.
