Imagine getting free tickets to concerts in Sydney and/or around the country in exchange for your brilliant words or artistic eye?
Eastside Radio is a community radio station based in Paddington, Sydney, and broadcasting to the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and the greater Sydney area, where it can be heard as far west as the Blue Mountains. The station can also be heard around the world via online streaming and playback available on demand. We focus on a range of specialist music genres, including jazz in its many styles, soul, blues and funk, afro, Cuban and Brazilian, gypsy, world music and dance; with a little bit of folk and alternative country thrown in.
The station also specialises in broad coverage of the arts through its weekday morning Arts programmes, and the afternoon Drive programmes.
Drive specialises in local community news and political issues, with some coverage of local music, organisations and occasional arts coverage.
We’re looking for people to head out and about around town visiting gigs, plays and other productions and then writing reviews or publishing photos on our website from these events.
This is a volunteer position.
Examples of current review work for the station include:
Review: Bonnie Raitt supported by Mavis Staples @ICC Darling Harbour
We are looking for people who have an interest in either the local arts and music scene and are available to go out at night to various venues and then write a review for our online platforms.
We will provide access to the concerts and venues as well as our website and social channels for you to then work flexibly at your own availability but with some guidelines on style and timeframes.
As a small station there is a lot of scope to carve out your own niche area of expertise build up skills in the industry as well as work with other people who share your interests.
If you’re interested in getting involved then please email Tony at tony.smythe@eastsidefm.org with the subject line “Interest in Reviewing Gigs and Photography”. Please also include a current CV and any relevant experience/interests.
