All the Way from Tennessee Eastside Welcomes Nia!

How you going Eastside listeners,

My name is Nia Myrthil and I will be interning at Eastside FM for the next 8 weeks. Originally from Atlanta, GA, USA, I am a student at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and I’m a part of a study abroad program. I have been in Sydney since January, and have just finished my studying for the semester at The University of Sydney. I’m looking forward to getting started here at Eastside FM, and becoming a part of this wonderful community and family here!

As previously stated, I have been in Sydney for a minute now, but I still feel as if I got here yesterday. There are so many new things to explore and get to know here, and I’m beyond excited to learn as much as I can while I am here. With Sydney being such an essential hub for indie and international music, I can’t wait to listen and get to know the city and country through its musical roots. I’m also really looking forward to getting a global take on radio and music, and how it differs here in Australia differs in comparison to the US. I think that Eastside will be an opportunity that I will never forget, and will definitely be a once-in-a-lifetime learning experience that I am lucky to have.

In order for you all to get to know a little bit about me, I want to definitely expand upon some of my music tastes. I am typically the type of person to listen to anything and everything, but I do have some artists and genres that I like a little more than others. I am a HUGE pop listener, and I love pretty much anything that has to do with pop culture so go figure. I love One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, Shawn Mendes, and many more within that genre. I also enjoy hip-hop/rap and R&B, so pretty much artists like Beyoncé, Cardi B, Lil Nas X, and etc. But again, I am open to all music so this is just a taste of what I listen to! I’ll also link below some iconic hits that I definitely recommend!

I hope you guys enjoyed my post, and I am looking forward to this experience, and getting to know the community here in Sydney.
