Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is It’s The Little Things by Louise Goh on the Rolling Stock Studios label.
Louise Goh is a Melbourne-based keyboardist, composer and vocalist, trained in classical piano, jazz & improvisation (Victorian College of the Arts) with further study in improvisation at the School for Improvisational Music, New York University. Louise released her debut jazz piano trio album ‘Crossing Ahead’ (2013) with L.A.A. and is a core member of award-winning cabaret act Yana Alana and The Paranas, who have recently returned from overseas after performing at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Soho Theatre (London).
The new album It’s the little things (released in February 2019) represents a new musical direction for Louise. Showcasing Louise’s original compositions, which have a strong lyrical focus, It’s the little things is a departure from the traditional acoustic jazz format and features contemporary sounds (Rhodes, organ, synthesizer) and a keen emphasis on fusion-style groove and rhythm.
