Join Maisy Stapleton and our special guests to explore stories behind the arts and behind the COVID Lockdown.
We first meet artist Wendy Sharpe, whose new exhibition Ghosts, will open soon at the Mosman Art Gallery.
Wendy’s family was steeped in the psychic, with previous generations well-known for their psychic ability. While Wendy’s gifts might have resolved themselves in a sensitivity of vision and understanding translated in paint, rather than an ability to commune with the unseen, she remains attuned to the nuances of the psychic world and will be transforming the whole gallery space at Mosman into an immersive extrasensory world.
The Program then welcomes Lisa Cahill, CEO and Artistic Direcor of the Australian Design Centre to discuss newly-opened exhibitions Design Isolate and Isolate Make. These reveal how artists and designers worked and thought during the COVID 19 lockdown and also unveil several special projects forged during a period of lockdown, as the pandemic played out in Australia. Designer Stephen Goddard speaks of his journal, documenting daily life and the events, which grew disproportionately out of the routine of lockdown, that shaped his life at the time. Glass engraver, Kathy Elliott, tells how she explored her fears, working in a new way with her glass objects
