Brisbane based pianist, composer and educator Sean Foran is developing a profile not only in Australia, but also internationally. He graduated from the Old. Conservatorium with a Major in Jazz Piano, also has a Masters of Arts in Jazz Performance – with distinction – from the Leeds College of music in England. He has been awarded the Queensland’s Song Jazz Award 3 times and is the recipient of the prestigious Brisbane City Council’s Lord Mayor’s Artist Fellowship. He has studied in Britain and Europe.
Sean is best known for his work with the contemporary music trio Trichotomy who have released 5 albums to great acclaim and have been nominated for both Bell and Air Awards. Sean has also had works performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. He is also an educator lecturing at one music establishment in Brisbane, heading Contemporary Music at another and conducting workshops in performance, composition and music business around Australia, the UK, Japan, China and Indonesia.
Sean Foran has recently released his debut recording as a band leader, titled “Frame Of Reference” recorded in England with English musicians he had previously met on his trips to the UK and players he says he truly admires.
The players are Sean playing piano and rhodes, Stuart McCallun guitars, Julian Arguelles saxophones, Ben Davis cello and Joost Hendricks drums.
