Pianist, composer Chris Cody has lived for such a long time in Paris that he’s now considered a French Australian musician, claimed by both countries. he currently spends his time commuting between both countries and has just returned to Australia after a successful tour of France, England and Spain.
Chris started his musical carrer as a classical pianist after being a finalist in Roger Woodward Piano Scholarship at the age of 14. Later after playing with some jazz musicians he studied and gained a Diploma in Jazz Studies from the Sydney Conservatorium. Then came his first venture overseas to perform in the USA and Europe, ending in Paris. Since the Chris Cody’s carrer has taken him all over Europe, England, Australia , USA working with the very best musicians those countries have to offer. He has also developed as a versatile composer writing for film, tv, theatre and dance.
‘Not My Lover’ is the title of Chris Cody’s latest recording and he says the album is a tribute to Paris, the town he loves and it’s people. It features some of Australia’s finest jazz musicians, Tenor Sax player Karl Laskowski, bassist Brendan Clarke, and drummer James Waples, compositions by Cris and recorded in Sydney.
The program will open with Chris’ composition ‘Scatter’.
