Two weeks into our coverage of Sydney World Pride 2023 and Arts Wednesday talks to all singing, all dancing, all acting Kara Zmatiq, a powerhouse live singing drag queen – yes, absolutely no miming here. Kara brings a season of sexy sparkling cabaret performances to Sydney World Pride audiences.
Featuring circus and dance acts set to iconic gay anthems performed and sung live by Kara, you can attend Pride Soiree at The Vanguard in Newtown (Saturday 4 March). The show include risqué interactive entertainment, and of course lots of glitter, sequins and incredible fabulousness.
Tune in to hear Kara’s latest release, “Queen – World Pride remix” before the interview.
Also this week we chat to Laurent Auclair, the writer of French Letters & Leather Cleaner which is about to open at the Kings Cross Theatre.
An ageing shop owner, a savvy twenty-something, a jaded drag queen, and a straight Inner West couple spend an evening in an adult store, a disparate cast of characters who strangely get on, or do they, for what could possibly go wrong? Laurent tackles some very serious issues in this play, but he has chosen to use comedy to express his subjects in a truly French farce idiom. Season runs 10-24 February.
