In celebration of 40 years on air since 1983, Eastside Radio is hosting a series of intimate concerts at Low 302 presented by your favourite presenters.
Every month we’re inviting a selection of various programs to curate a night of live music at this special venue on Crown St in Surry Hills.
Our next act in August is Blow with the McMahon Barnett Sextet.
Two legends of the Australian music industry.
Dan Barnett was born into music, being the son of the legendary Sydney bassist Cliff Barnett. He began his musical life as a trombonist and quickly developed a love for singing and has since carved out an enviable reputation on the Australian music scene as well as a regular on the European festival circuit
“Dan Barnett is a natural bandleader with the personality and charisma to charm the most demanding of audiences. Add his talents as a fine, swinging vocalist and excellent trombone player, and you have one of the most satisfying sounds in Australian music”. Kevin Jones The Australian
Considered one of Australia’s foremost pianist/composers, Matt McMahon is the recipient of Australia’s highest honours in jazz, the National Jazz Award (1999) and Freedman Jazz Fellowship (2005). Matt has performed extensively at many of the leading festivals across Australia and Asia.
“McMahon’s playing is ravishing … “. John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald
