New Dutchie in Sydney – meet Sanne

Hi everyone!

My name is Sanne de Kramer, and I am from the Netherlands. I’m 22 years old and I study Creative Business at Breda University of Applied Sciences. I’m in my third year and I already have some experience with radio as I did a radio show in my previous semester at uni this year. The show was called “Sisters Know Better” and I presented it with 2 other girls from my university. The show was about things that girls were struggling with, and we (as the “sisters”) would give them advice. We also had a segment every show where we would play a little quiz that was related to the topic of that show. We talked a lot during the show and in between the segments, we mostly played music of female artists.

I always wanted to go abroad during my studies, so when I got the chance to do my internship at Eastsidefm in Sydney, I didn’t think twice. I’m very excited to be here, learn more about the music industry, and develop my skills.

I’m also very excited to explore the city and Australia 🙂 Something I learned about moving to Australia is that everything is so relaxed and everyone is very friendly. I’m still getting used to the fact that everything is left here. When I’m walking I still get angry faces at me because I walk at the wrong side of the path.

I made some goals for myself to achieve when I’m here in Australia. One of them is learning how to surf. I would love to know how to surf, so in the 5 months that I’m here, my house mate is teaching me. I also would like to go whale watching, kayaking through to Harbour of Sydney with sunrise, go to Manly etc. I have a whole “to do list when I’m in Australia” in my notes app on my phone.

So, as I told before, I’m from the Netherlands. It is maybe world’s smallest country but with the tallest people on earth. I love it when I can bike max 5 minutes to see my friends, go to work, go to university or anywhere actually. You can go everywhere you want to go in the Netherlands by bike. It’s amazing. When I arrived here, I heard that people are driving almost 3 hours to go to work. I was in shock. In 3 hours you can drive from the South of the Netherlands, all the way up to the North of the Netherlands. And that’s the whole country! But Australia is massive and my pedometer since I arrived increased intensely.

At Eastsidefm, I really would love to go to many places like music/art exhibitions and write reviews. I love to see new things and go places so that I’m not behind a desk all the time. I would like to maybe get a show too.

Some songs and artists that I love:

The last one is a Dutch song. I’m mostly into pop music but I’m open to learn new music.
