Austrian-born London-based musician Manu Delago is a multi-instrumentalist by design.
Yet it came to be that in a career spanning over 10 years, the Tru-Thoughts signee is most known for playing the Hang, a percussive instrument that creates sounds so unable to be pigeonholed.
It’s this flexibility that has led him to poignant collaborations with prominent names such as Björk, the London Symphony Orchestra and, most recently, Anoushka Shankar on her grammy-nominated album Land of Gold.
But aside from these musical match-ups, Manu has also been an extensive solo artist.
His latest work Metromonk is a stunning album, divided into two halves that he says could be divided as “up and down or mountain and city, or maybe Metro and Monk”.
I was lucky enough to catch up with Manu while he enjoyed some much needed down-time before heading to our shores to play gigs around the country.
You can catch Manu at the Camelot Lounge on Wednesday, 8th March. Click here for more info.
