Peter Solness uses light in long exposure photographs to paint incredible dream-like landscapes and portraits. Peter says that he works from a pitch black canvas, and light painting allows him to build images with extraordinary precision.
‘I no longer wait for the camera to tell me what it wants to show me. Instead, I imagine how I can make the camera reveal what I want it to see, then execute the image accordingly.’
Peter spoke with Nick Terry on Monday Drive about just how he crafts these images alone
at night, and how he’s teaching the technique to others through a new workshop.
Peter’s show LUMINOUS at Chrissie Cotter Gallery in Camperdown runs from August 9th – 20th 2017.
