We’re joined by actress, activist and author Hannah Diviney, who unpacks everything you need to know about Sydney’s Disability Pride Festival happening Saturday, 26 July, from 10 AM to 4 PM at Town Hall.
This is a free, disabled-led celebration — every organiser, performer, and volunteer brings their story, identity, and lived experience. Under the bold theme “No Shame. No Apologies.”, it’s more than a festival—it’s a statement of pride, power, and presence
Expect:
• Rock cabaret from Elly‑May Barnes, and a breathtaking performance by pole-dance champion Deb Roach
• An inspiring keynote from Alastair McEwin OAM in Auslan, alongside short films by Emily Dash Disability Support
• A marketplace spotlighting disabled creators, art exhibits, crafty workshops, open mic poetry, tactile activities, accessible cinema zones—plus contests like “Best Bling Mobility Aid” Disability Pride
“Every moment is designed by us, with us, and for us—a chance to be seen, heard, and celebrated. Allies are welcome to stand with us in solidarity, protest, and joy. Accessibility is a priority, with wheelchair access, Auslan interpreters, sensory spaces, audio description and more Disability Support”
Tune in for Hannah’s firsthand reflections and why this festival is a life-changing experience—not just for participants, but for listeners like you.
