The first voyage of James Cook was a combined Royal Navy and Royal Society expedition to the south Pacific Ocean aboard HMS Endeavour, from 1768 to 1771. One of the aims of this first expedition was to observe the 1769 Transit of Venus across the Sun on 3–4 of June that year. This event was the catalyst for Under the Stars, a new exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Cara Pinchbeck was one of the two curators and she joined Sylvia to tell us more.
