The stars have aligned for a remarkable night of jazz as Daryl Pratt, Matt McMahon, Brett Hirst, and Andrew Gander reunite to launch their highly anticipated album Aswirl. This extraordinary performance will take place on Thursday, February 6th, at Foundry616, bringing together four of Australia’s most celebrated jazz improvisers and composers after an eight-year hiatus.
A Historic Reunion and a New Chapter
Recorded just before drummer Andrew Gander’s relocation overseas, Aswirl marks a pivotal moment in this quartet’s history. Featuring original compositions from all four members, as well as interpretations of jazz standards, the album captures the group’s exceptional synergy and creativity. Their live performance promises to blend the boundary-pushing spirit of modern jazz with the warmth and intimacy of chamber music, creating an unforgettable evening of vibes-flavored chamber jazz.
