In Suggs: My Life Story the Madness frontman takes to the stage in a hilarious, yet moving, one-man tour de force playing to rave reviews.
” I’d just turned 50, the kids had left home, and my cat had just died.”
The death of Suggs’ beloved cat on his 50th birthday triggers a personal quest to discover what happened to the father he never knew. Stunned by what he learns, Suggs is taken back to his childhood on the tough streets of 1970s Soho and his first appearance on Top Of The Pops at the age of 18.
Dawning from the age of the 2 Tone ska of the 70’s and early 80’s, Suggs and Madness came out swinging with their 1979 album One Step Beyond. From there history was written with iconic hits such as ‘Our House’, ‘Baggy Trousers’ and ‘It Must Be Love’, tallying 15 singles in the UK top ten including #1 hit ‘House of Fun’. Eight years on since the lifelong friends last toured Oz, they make a return touring in celebration of their latest and 12th studio album, Can’t Touch Us Now, and this gives Suggs a chance to regale the Australian public in his own show.
Part play, part stand up comedy, this “effortlessly engaging raconteur” (Simon Price, Sunday Independent) goes on to stumble and plummet through the trap door of failure, then trampoline back up to catch the passing trapeze of show business success! This show is not to be missed.
