DO YOU WANT TO SUPPORT LOCAL ARTS AND VENUES? LOOK NO FURTHER. HEADED BY A SYDNEY-BASED DIRECTOR, WRITER AND DRAMATURG, KINGDOM OF EUCALYPTS IS SHOWING AT THE BONDI PAVILION!
Come along to the cultural icon and second home of Eastside, the Bondi Pavilion!
Kingdom of Eucalypts follows the untold story of feminist and Australian literary icon Miles Franklin.
Upon returning to Sydney in the 1930s, Miles struggles to reignite her fame following the release of her first novel, My Brilliant Career. Frustrated by her elderly mother, unsteady income and growing fear that her glory days are behind her, Miles seeks creative reprieve in the Yabber Club of writers and “progressive thinkers.”
Hope glimmers as Miles finds herself, once again, within an influential circle. However, despite having everything she’s ever wanted, WWii is impending. Miles must choose between an easy path to success or the moral principles that govern her life and work.
A feminist, a suffragist, and an activist, Miles Franklin’s literary legacy continues to shape Australia.
