‘Thought Tapes LIVE’ from Grievous Bodily Calm is Eastside Radio’s Album Of The Week

Thought Tapes Live is the debut album from Perth quintet Grievous Bodily Calm. The band held a long residency at El Grotto in Scarborough, WA and this album was also recorded there in May 2017. It’s a live instrumental album, diverse and experimental with hip hop influences and gentle electronics, and also “krautrock, and sweet nursery rhyme melodies”, according to the band themselves.

Bennu is a cut from the 7 track album:

Grievous Bodily Calm are: Alex Reid on drums, Zac Grafton on bass, Edo Ekic on guitar, Josiah Padmanabham on keys and samples, and Matthew McGlynn on trumpet. The ensemble have supported artists like Winston Surfshirt and Jordan Rakei on the Perth legs of their tours.

We think Thought Tapes Live is a very fine album, adventurous yet very listenable. Looking forward to the future output from the band. You can stream the album here on Spotify, and/or buy the record here at Bandcamp.
