On the 22nd of November, Tom Rollinson will launch his new album Nitty Gritty featuring
TIM ROLLINSON – guitar and six string banjo
ALEXANDER HEWETSON – bass
SHANNON STITT – Rhodes, Wurli, Hammond, Synths
NIC CECIRE – drums and percussion
Over the years, guitarist Tim Rollinson has been associated with some outstanding recording projects, not only with the band DIG (Directions In Groove) but with his own ensembles such as The Modern Congress. Tim was not only a foundation member of the highly successful DIG but has played with artists and groups such as Vince Jones, The Black-Eyed Susans, Eon Beats – as well as leading his own jazz trio.
His brand new album Nitty Gritty features ten funky and groove laden tracks which explore Tim’s love of a diverse range of music styles , both old school and contemporary, from funk, soul, reggae and world sounds. Unlike a lot of modern digital recordings, which have a clean but almost clinical sound, Nitty Gritty has a real analogue feel- particularly noticeable when it embraces instruments such as the Fender Rhodes and Hammond organ – the perfect bed for Tim’s overlaying guitar artistry.
For this recording Tim has assembled an all star group which features fellow DIG luminary Alex Hewetson on bass, drummer Nic Cecire and young keyboard wiz Shannon Stitt.
