After celebrating a 10th anniversary in 2014 and subsequent year off in 2015, the famed Gum Ball Music and Arts Festival will make a triumphant return back to its beloved Hunter Valley bushland home ‘Dashville,’ on 22-24 April 2016.
The popular camping festival which in 2014 saw the Hoodoo Gurus headline a huge list of over 30 acts perform to a capacity crowd of around 2500 people, is anticipated to return for its biggest year to date.
In 2014 it was pretty overwhelming after all the work we had put in, to see how well the festival had grown over its 10 years, not in size but in quality. A lot of people were bummed that we had a year off, but after some great rest and recovery we are excited to be bringing it back, better than ever – Organiser Matt Johnston
The Gum Ball 2016 festival will run in similar format to previous years, with live music over two stages for two nights and three days, including the popular silent disco and Sunday breakfast wind down. Due to recent site improvements, its anticipated that further inclusions will be added to the festival program over coming months to complement Dashville’s growing space.
The April date coincides with the last weekend of the school holidays, which is also the ANZAC Day long weekend.
The family friendly festival has received much praise throughout its 10 year tenure for its grass roots effort in providing a down to earth, laid back offering of eclectic live music and relaxed bush camping.
Here is what some of the artists who performed in 2014 think about the festival
I really loved being out under the stars, hanging around bon fires re-connecting with my peers again and everyone was just so relaxed – Ngaiire
We played some for the young, some for the old, some for the new, some for the tattooed, gumball chewing, glow stick waving, fire twirling fairies and we had a large and electric time that I want to do again and again. Thanks again for having us Gum Ball – Wolf & Cub
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes trying to imprint the moment in my mind so that I would never forget it – Lindi Ortego
This year’s lineup has not been displayed yet. If you want to make sure to get to know who will be playing as soon as possible, visit the festival’s website. Also, click here if you would like to purchase a ticket. There are still some early bird deals available
